America Culture will organize a series of conversations with faculty members from across campus to consider how best to support students affected by Islamophobia and anti-Arab racism in Michigan classrooms.  Spearheaded by Charlotte Karem Albrecht (Assistant Professor, American Culture and Women's Studies), this initiative is supported by the Center for Research Learning and Teaching (CRLT) and the Office for the Vice Provost for Equity, Inclusion and Academic Affairs' Faculty Communities for Inclusive Teaching .  These conversations will happen regularly as the group considers lessons and recommendations that can help all faculty in their teaching.  A poster session of those ideas, along with other Faculty Communities for Inclusive Teaching, will be showcased by CRLT during Fall 2016.  This effort represents one piece of our Arab and Muslim American Studies Program's significant activities over the past year to build a more inclusive campus by educating students, faculty, and staff about Islamophobia and anti-Arab bias.
